Release Your Depression?

My close friend and Colleague Marcus Santer and I have been working on a project called Release Your Depression. I wanted to share the wonderful benefits of Shaolin Cosmos Chi Kung with the public to help them gain relief from Depression.

Depression from a Chinese medicine perspective is a result of the human spirit being pressed down or "imprisoned". Shaolin Cosmos Chi Kung is excellent medicine for Depression.  Western medicine does not treat the Spirit, it doesn't even (yet) acknowledge the existence of spirit.

I approached Marcus Santer, who is currently writing a book on Shaolin Cosmos Chi Kung, to work with him on this project.  He was very happy to share his knowledge and skills.

The result is www.releaseyourdepression.com go along and read the front page for this wonderful 38 page e-book. We made the front page as cryptic as possible to really peak peoples curiosity. So if you know of anyone who is looking for a solution to their depression please send them to www.releaseyourdepression.com

On the 'Taster' Lesson & Shaolin Course:

Firstly, the free 'taster' lesson held on May 3rdst is just that – a taster  and not the full 'meal'. I want you to enjoy the experience 'as is' and no more. There may well be aspects that you feel you don't 'get' or perhaps you may think you are not able to perform well the exercises we cover. Regardless, it is important that you leave those feelings outside the class so that you enjoy the experience on the day. Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day and neither are your foundations in the Shaolin arts!

Secondly, I honestly believe that what you are about to experience is genuinely different and certainly refreshing when compared to other activities you may have done before. I know this may sound boastful, but I sincerely believe it to be true. Indeed, I would say without hesitation that this is not just another martial art of which there are many. I am confident that even during your free lesson you will catch a glimpse of what I mean and certainly, should you join, by the end of the course you will honestly feel this to be one of the best decisions you have made.

Lastly, I have a few words to share about the Introduction to Shaolin kung fu course that follows your free lesson. This course is aimed at all levels, that includes the absolute beginner to the already accomplished martial artist. Though only 3 months in duration, it is incredibly structured, building neatly from lesson to lesson. I am confident that after its completion, YOU will be confident and entirely able to continue your practice safely by yourself without further instruction. In itself, you will be able to attain great results over the time that you keep up practice. In short, you can expect to reach greater depths of skill and in turn receive real tangible benefits, all from this short structured course.

I have been teaching this material for over 3 years now and it is from my experience that I write.

UPDATED JANUARY 17th:

Would You Like To Experience Chi Flow Or Internal Force?

Classes in Shaolin kung fu are available every Monday in the City of Bristol from 7pm till 9pm. Held at the Quaker Hall (on the Gloucester road) a small and friendly class awaits you. This is a chance to experience something genuinely different and refreshing - unlike any other class you might have tried before.

Health, Combat Efficiency, Mind Expansion and Joy for Living

If you desire to practise genuine Shaolin kung fu then simply follow these 2 steps:

-Any health issues?

-Previous/Current Martial arts experience?

Further Information:

- The door is open to new students only at the beginning of the month.

2) Block Booking - Block payment options are as follows: £250 for 3 months training (saving £50) or £450 for 6 months training (saving £150).

Note: Fees cover membership of the Shaolin Wahnam Institute and insurance by and affiliation to the British Council of Chinese Martial Arts.

Please note that your 1st lesson will be a trial lesson. For this lesson, if I decide you are not suitable, or you find my classes are not what you are looking for, I will refund you £80 out of your £100 fees. In other words, this trial lesson will cost you £20 to discover if genuine Shaolin training is for you. Once accepted, if you wish to upgrade your payment option to a Block Booking of either 3 or 6 months, you may do so at your convenience during your 1st month of training.

In closing:

All of the kung fu taught and practised in my class is internal and also a practise of Chi kung. However do not mistake this for meaning easy training as you will need to work hard. I am confident you will experience something genuinely different and refreshing in my class and look forward to meeting you.

What Being a Part of the Minority is Really Like

Stop. Only read on if you want to be part of a growing minority in the martial arts world today.

Here is what we are all about: We, in Shaolin Wahnam, believe we are one of the only Shaolin schools in the world today that actively promotes and teach traditional Shaolin kungfu skills, enabling you to experience and develope Internal Force, the ability to use genuine kung fu patterns in combat, being able to benefit in countless activities outside of your kung fu training from your training, experiencing mind expansion and spiritual joy. You will appreciate all this and much more, by direct unquestionable experience.

You would imagine that if we are as good as we say we are, that many others would be singing the same song? There are many examples, let me give you just FIVE right here. After Sifu visited the USA, he had quite an effect as you'll read:

Testimonials

Sean was blown away (read the full testimonial here)

“Hello everybody! I have just completed Sifu's courses that he taught over this past weekend in New York. I waited a few days to post a review as I find it difficult to come up with the words to describe just how incredible and life changing this weekend was. This was my first time meeting with Sifu Wong and I was completely blown away. He is the kindest happiest man I have ever seen

When I first came here I honestly didn't believe you guys when you were all talking about what you gain from such a seemingly short session. I was previously practicing about 7 hours daily and still could not achieve what I am able to now in 15 simple minutes!!!! I kid you not 7 hours a day! The gratitude I feel at being able to train with such a master and in such an incredible art is immeasurable. I don't think I can ever repay it.”

David had this to say (read the full testimonial here)

On energy, after taking the Internal Force course:

...I have found That I really do have alot more energy, even after a day's work, I find I can do more, without the feeling of wanting to be lazy and rest, Which also leads to clearer, calmer, and more refreshed Mind!, even after a stressful day of work!, I now have the energy enough to do more!

On Sifu Wong Kiew Kit:

I General I think Si-Gung is One of the best Teachers/Instructors I have ever seen, Every thing that I have read about him is true! He Has the Energy and personallity that you would fall in love with! I Enjoyed the time I had to train under him, I hope to do so more often when he comes back to the U.S.

If you wanted a comparison of Si-Gung Wong to other Teachers/Instructors I have encountered in other martial arts, He would Rank the Highest #1, the other Teachers/Instructors I have encountered in other styles of Martial Arts were usually older I'd say in their Forties, and they got tired easliy after Hours of Instructing class, and then send one of the other Disciples or Instructor's to teach class, lead in exercise etc, so they can break the rest of the night, but not that I have seen in Si-Gung Wong, He taught our class, and not but Thirty Minutes later gave a Lecture to the citizens in Gainesville who attended the Lecture, and to top it off threw enegry around to the crowd and got them moving in almost Following Breeze Swaying Willows, And these people know nothing of the practice! I was Amazed, Now I see what My Si-Fu Anthony saw in him, He is truely a Remarkable Man! I urge those who are concidering a Course from him any where in the world to go and do it, He is worth the time and effort.

Brandt had this to say (full post here)

"Sifu Wong is all that I expected: vibrant, energetic, warm, encouraging, magnetic and exuding a palpable internal power, and a visible joy.

The reverberating yet soothing words, "Smile from your heaaart," fill me with my own pale intimations of these same qualities. Certainly learning from books is the lowest common denominator in learning qi gong. I have been practicing in this manner for a while, with helpful pointers from Sifu Anthony Korahais. I have practiced other styles of qi gong in the past as well. As an acupuncturist, I simply have to be able to manipulate qi, and have developed this capacity through years of conscientious acupuncture practice. But, even taking a single course with a Master of Sifu's calibre has surpassed any previous experiences i have had. One highlight: I often experienced a sense of expansion in the past, as though I had become 12-feet tall. While practicing Lifting the Sky, though, I felt more like 20-feet tall. I have experienced strong qi sensations in my hands, as though wearing magnetic gloves; while practicing Pushing Mountains, my hands are encased in six inches of thick qi padding all the way around. I can direct qi in my patients well, with or without needle insertion, and I am sure that I will radically increase in this capacity through sustained practice of Shaolin Wahnam Chi Kung."

Matt’s first experience went rather well.. (post here)

"This was my first experience with real chi kung. In the past, it was all external movement and I wondered if chi was really real. Well, now I can speak from experience that it is without a doubt real, and high level chi kung is amazing!

Each course followed a similar schedule - learn/practice some chi kung, sit and discuss, learn/practice some chi kung, sit and discuss, repeat. Throughout the entire weekend, every time we practiced my sensations of chi/chi flow/etc got stronger and stronger. Just to list a couple of the things that I experienced - my hands and forearms charged with energy after stance training, feeling chi rushing around inside my body during standing meditation, feeling my knees, elbows, and dan tien all expand to several inches beyond my body during the Merging with the Cosmos course, and jumping around like a monkey and doing things I can't normally do during a very vigorous chi flow. If someone had given me that list and told me I would experience all of that and more over the weekend, I would be blown away. But the funny thing is, when I was experiencing them, they just seemed so normal and natural. I can't really explain it better than that."

Over to Chris: (full post here)

"I was excited about the internal force course because I had never taken a kung fu course from Sigung. For me, there were 2 moments that stood out. In the first one, Sigung had us go straight to flowingly still after either horse stance or golden bridge. That was the first time I'd ever done that, and the effect was amazing.

Generating Energy Flow was just as nice. Lifting the Sky, Pushing Mountains, and Carrying the Moon are the staple chi kung exercises of our school, and I'll take any opportunity I can to deepen my skill with them. Also, after the course was over, my Sisook Eugene, Siheng Andre, and I practiced kung fu together for a couple of hours in the hotel parking lot. It was so much fun and incredibly helpful. (Thanks guys!) Like I told Sigung the next day, after Generating Energy Flow, I felt fantastic, and after another couple hours of kung fu, I felt even better!"

And there are many more examples over at the Shaolin Wahnam discussion forum, there is even a section entitled Testimonials

Best Regards,

Jordan Francis

About Grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit

Grandmaster Wong is the 4th generation successor from the Shaolin Monastery of China. He is a grandmaster of Shaolin Kungfu and Chi Kung. He received the "Qigong Master of the Year" award at the Second World Congress on Qigong held in San Francisco in November, 1997. He also holds an honours degree in humanities, and is one of the very few masters who speaks excellent English.

Grandmaster Wong, born in 1944, started his life-long training of the Shaolin arts in 1954 when he began learning Shaolin Kungfu from the famous Shaolin master, Sifu Lai Chin Wah, who was popularly known as Uncle Righteousness. Grandmaster Wong became his best disciple.

To further his kungfu training, Sifu Wong later learnt from Sifu Ho Fatt Nam, the third generation successor directly descended from the southern Shaolin Monastery when it was burned by the Manchurian army in China.

Sifu Wong also learned Wuzu Kungfu from Sifu Chee Kim Thong, and Wing Choon Kungfu from Sifu Choe Hoong Choy, who were patriarchs of their respective kungfu styles.

Sifu Wong has taught kungfu and chi kung for more than twenty five years, to more than twenty organizations. Regretting that many masters were withholding "secrets" of kungfu and chi kung with the result that these arts might lose their essence, in 1982 he founded the Shaolin Wahnam School of kungfu and chi kung, naming the school after the two teachers who had influenced him most, Sifu Lai Chin Wah and Sifu Ho Fatt Nam, with the aim of transmitting genuine Shaolin Kungfu, Shaolin Chi Kung and Shaolin philosophy.

Having won championships himself, Sifu Wong has trained champions in kungfu (demonstrations as well as all styles sparring) and lion dance competitions. But he has always insisted that while Shaolin Kungfu is an exceedingly effective martial art, its greatness lies in enriching our daily life and in spiritual development.

Since 1987 Sifu Wong has spent more time teaching chi kung than kungfu, because he beileves that while kungfu serves as a fascinating hobby, chi kung serves an urgent public need, particularly in overcoming degenerative and chronic illness. Sifu Wong is one of the few masters who have generously introduced the once secretive Shaolin Chi Kung to the public, and has helped literally hundreds of people to be relieved of their so-called "incurable" diseases like hypertension, asthma, rheumatism, arthritis, diabetics, migraine, gastritis, gall stones, kidney failure, depression, anxiety and even cancer.

Now he has devoted more time on writing and teaching overseas, having successfully taught in Europe, the United States, Canada and Australia. He stresses the Shaolin philosophy of sharing goodness with all humanity, and is now dedicated to spreading the wonders and benefits of the Shaolin arts to more people irrespective of race, culture and religion.

Sifu Jordan Francis

I first met Grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit in July 2002 in Bath, England. There were 3 courses available spread over a single weekend. Although this was a Chi Kung weekend, I asked during a small break if the amazing Grandmaster would check my Horse Riding stance after missing previous opportunities to do so.

Completely unaware, though very fortunate, this picture was captured showing the attention that was gratefully received. This was one of the highlights for me at this course, amazing when I recall the many wild Chi Flows all around me.

I spent my time solely practicing the Horse stance as shown to the left when in early 2003, classes were opened on the coast in Brighton by Sifu Dan Hartwright. Although the journey was long (about 2 and a half hours) I made the most of this opportunity to learn.

Just a couple of months later I asked Sifu (Wong Kiew Kit) if I may attend the Intensive Shaolin Kungfu course in Malaysia. I remember feeling very happy and a little nervous at the same time, when accepted on this glorious course.

This was like a dream come true. I first heard about Sifu from reading his excellent books, specifically 'The Art of Shaolin Kung fu' and 'The Art of Chi kung'. I would dream of learning this great art from a genuine master, yet here I was buying flight tickets to learn from the very author of the books I read just previously!

The course was an eye opener in many regards. The training was tough and often I would not remember the sequences just taught or know my left from my right (!) yet the material was magically sinking in and I enjoyed every moment. This was no easy course, just as Sifu told us - this course will push you on every level.

Since then I have returned to Malaysia for a special (and it was) course where much of what was covered over 5 days before was done on the very 1st day. I am very grateful to Sifu for teaching us the Flowing Water Staff and Five Animals Set.

I have also visited Germany to learn from my fantasticly skilled and generous elder brother, Kai Uwe Jettkandt. Kai has been very kind in sharing his vast wisdom on the "Warrior Project" though I wish I had attended more of these wonderful occasions. I have fond memories of the Warrior Project in Brighton, Edinburgh and of course Frankfurt.
